This season alone:

OSU beats #2 Texas in pre-season

OSU beats #2 Michigan last game of the year

Now, with USC choking against UCLA (biggest choke of the year), looks like we'll have Michigan again, possibly Florida.

Bring on an NCAA football playoff system, says I.
But until that time, the Buckeyes have already proven to me that they are #1.
