Sitting for a while on the windswept crags of the Dreadlands, I reminisced about what had come before. The titanic battles of flesh and steel that had brought me to this place. So close ... so close ... that damnable bard had put me through much and I'm just ... oh, so close to achieving his aims. A symphony and an instrument to play it on. How simple and how unrelentingly difficult a task. I knew that the soft snow falling around me would do nothing for me, but it might coax that reclusive dragon Gorenaire from her slumber. I had seen naught of her for many weeks. No sightings, no reports, nothing. I surveyed the terrain again, hoping for some small sign. Not even a tell-tale curl of frosty breath. Again, I moved on. Several stalwart companions had ventured into that mechanical maelstrom of the Plane of Innovation. I joined them there to cease the operations of some of the rampant mechanical devices that seem to desire us for ... /shudder ... parts. Dispatching only four or five of the automatons, I recieved a message from one of my dear friends ... Gorenaire had been sighted! Quickly assertaining that my companions in Innovation are all for attempting to tackle her great scaley hide, I quickly put out a call for reinforcements to meet us in the Dreadlands. A fine force appeared and converged upon the entrance area of Karnor's Castle. We were hastily assembled and ill prepared for what awaited us. I had moved into Gorenaires lands at this point... and found her lounging upon a precipice. She either deemed me not a threat, or was entirely unaware of my presence or intent. Gathering her attention with a well placed song, she proceeded to follow me back to where my fellows awaited. Over the mountains and through the valleys of snow we traveled, she and I ... ever onward to doom. Upon reaching the sandy desolation that surrounds the Castle, she was quickly set upon by a myriad force. Unfortunately, she seemed prepared and quickly disassembled the force piece by summoned piece. At this point I could not, nay would not, let her escape the fate that was lain before us. Regathering our forces and calling upon those who would aid us in this struggle, we once again went into the maw of that frosty wyrm. Suffice it to say, our preperations for the second meeting were much better than the first. Congratulations to those who received a share of her horde! , , , , , , , |
