I'm trying to change my group x's on the map. They are a green color now that is hard to see. When I get into the ui and change it to 0,0,0, and try to save it, Vista tells me to check the path. It looks right, but it wont let me save the changes. Any ideas?

This is in your UI_charactername_server.ini file in the everquest directory:

In the MapViewWnd section

ShowGroup=true
GroupColor.red=0
GroupColor.green=0
GroupColor.blue=240

That sets them to black.

Need to use a text editor like notepad.

It isn't just Vista, I couldn't change them in the game even with XP.

I'm not trying to do it in game. I could change it in XP, but I can't with Vista. It keeps asking me to check the path, then says it cannot save the changes.

Is it possible that Vista made the directory read only?

That sounds like it.

That was my first thought when he said it wouldn't let him save it. I have no idea how to change the attributes of a directory in Vista.

Should be the same as in XP I assume, right click on the file and choose properties. Uncheck the read only box.

Still no luck. It keeps saying the path is incorrect.

Is it in the program file directory? c:\program files\sony\everquest? If it is, I've heard Vista is annal about people being able to edit stuff in there.

Might actually have to right click and "Open as Administrator" in order to edit and save it.

I've run into this before, and what I ended up doing was copying the file to my desktop, making the change, and then copying the file back to proper directory.
