With AA for me just around the corner, I find that information about it is sparse and hard to find. One question I can't seem to answer is this: How many XP do you need to gain an AA skill point? Especially interested in knowing what ratio it has to the number of XP needed to gain a level.

i.e. Does a PING take less XP than a DING? If so, how much less?

I'm sure someone with more knowledge than I have can answer with precision, but pings go much faster than dings. And when you die, you don't lose AA xp - it all comes out of regular. I *think* how quickly you gain AA xp depends on the difficulty of the mob, just like regular xp, and of course it also matters what percentage of xp is going to AA.

Different AA abilities cost different amounts of points. The first ones cost 1 each, then 3, then they vary a lot. One AA points is equal to lvl 51. In other words, at 51, if you turn your AA to 50% it will go evenly with your normal exp. However, at lvl 65, things that are blue to you would be red to a lvl 51, therefore giving you much more AA exp per kill. Consider the level of what you are fighting vs. lvl 51. For this reason, most people choose to wait until lvl 55 to start AA. The path I see most is lvl to 55, get Run 3, then lvl to 59-60 and AA some more. In 90% of instances, it is more beneficial for your character to level than gain an AA ability. In the end do what you feel like doing as long as you have fun. Avoid the grind

One more thing...
I remember when I first got into AA talking to Iro. He said something along the lines of he leaves his on 10-20% when he's trying to level because when you die that's free exp that you didn't lose for dying. Made sense to me. /shrug
